If you've scheduled a walk or recreation in the woods on a warm and sunny day, remember that in late spring/early summer, the national Forest Service is declaring a wildfire-resistant period, meaning residents are forbidden during this time:
- fire fires in forests and marshes, except in specially designed areas which prevent the spread of fire outside the area;
- leave the fires unattended. The place of fire may be left when the fire has been extinguished and the grizzling has completely ceased;
- to drop matches, smokers and other objects burning or frowning on the forest, marshes or roads crossing them;
- to carry out bombing operations in forests and marshes and to organise shooting classes, except places appropriately arranged;
- use tracing bullets, burners and prappers of combustible and frictionable material for hunting and shooting in forests and marshes;
- driving motor vehicles on forest and marshes off roads, except in cases where this is necessary for fire fighting, accident assistance and forest management;
- operate vehicles and other machinery with a faulty exhaust system of internal combustion engine gases in forests, marshes or on roads crossing them;
- without co-ordination with the forestry of the State Forest Service, carry out any burning which, by creating smoke, may mislead the performers of fire observation work.
