Hamburg Fire and Rescue Service’s Exchange of Experts visit in Riga, LatviaPrint

2-6 September 2019, nine CBRN experts of Hamburg Fire and Rescue Service and Firefighting Academy of Hamburg visited State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia in Riga. Visit was financed and organised by coordinators of the Exchange of Experts Programme of European Union in cooperation with the State Fire and Rescue of Latvia. (www.exchangeofexperts.eu)

Representatives from Hamburg were introduced with tasks, functions, technical capacities and training procedures of State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia. During the visit representatives were also introduced with partner services and cooperation between different services, as well as their capacities and everyday challenges responding to emergency situations. At the same time colleagues from Hamburg had the opportunity to observe civil protection exercise and visit Latvian Fire Fighting Museum.

Colleagues from Hamburg were especially interested on such topics as CBRN and decontamination issues, as well as Latvian expertise on breathing apparatus.

For cooperation and provided assistance implementing Exchange of Experts Programme, State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia would like to thank Company of Latvian National Guard responsible for protection against weapons of mass destruction, Latvian Naval Forces Coast Guard Service, Freeport of Riga Authority and Port Police, State Emergency Medical Service, State Environmental Service of the Republic of Latvia, Latvian Railway.
